• Easter Island (Rapa Nui: Rapa Nui, Spanish: Isla de Pascua) is a Polynesian island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, at the southeasternmost point of the Polynesian triangle. A special territory of Chile that was annexed in 1888, Easter Island is famous for its 887 extant monumental statues, called moai, created by the early Rapanui people.
On the Photo: Orongo - Stone village and believed to have also been a ceremonial center for the birdman cult. It is on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
It is near the Rano Kau extinct volcano crater, south of the capital Hanga Roa. You can reach it easily on foot, walking from the town, passing the Mataveri Airport, walking on the trail up towards the volcano.
Orongo Village was used until the mid 19th century. Due to the spread of Christianity and the illnesses brought by Europeans, less and less locals used the site until it was finally abandoned. Restoration work and studies have been conducted in the 1970s and 1980s. Today, you can admire Orongo pretty well restored.
There used to be a basalt moai called Hoa Hakananai'a, which was removed by British in 1868 and brought to the British Museum. Unlike other statues, this one is built from basalt, the hardest material on the island.

The Vishnoi (Bishnois) are a community of nature worshippers in the state of Rajasthan. The sect was founded by Guru Jambheshwar (b. 1451) after a drought in marwar region of India. He had laid down 29 principles to be followed by the sect. Bish means 20 and noi means 9. Thus, Bishnoi translates as Twenty-niners. Further the Guru tild to worship lord Vishnu (Bishnu). Thus the sect called vishnoi or Bishnoi. Killing animals and felling trees were banned. One of his 29 principles says "JEEV DAYA PALNI, RUNKH LILA NAHI GHAVE" means protect trees and animals. That's why the trees and animals are considered to be sacred by the Bishnois. The Woman on the photo is 84 years old

On the photo: Built in AD 1648 and called after himself, the town and Fort of Roopangarh (Rajasthan, India) was constructed by Maharaja Roop Singh of Kishangarh State between the mind - 17th to 18th centuries.

Originally a nine turreted Fort, it has been built over and added on by several generations and the different styles can still be seen in the structure. Now beautifully restored and renovated into a hotel, it is the first 'War-Fort' to have been done so. The nineteen large rooms are individually and tastefully decorated, keeping in mind the history and heritage surrounding it. View from the fort on the village
